Wafid / GAMCA Medical Center Timings in Pakistan – The 9 to 5 Slip Explained

BookAppointment.pk Editorial Team · About 6 min read · Last reviewed September 2026

GAMCA medical center timing is where most applicants get caught out. The slip reads 9:00 to 5:00, so the plan becomes: the whole day is available. Then they travel to the center after lunch and are told that the medical is no longer being done that day. The slip is not wrong. The printed timing is the center’s working day — it is not the window in which the medical examination is performed.

Timings differ from center to center.

The pattern below is what applicants usually find at Wafid / GAMCA centers in Pakistan, but your own center may open or close sample collection earlier or later, and timings can change without notice. Confirm with your center before travelling, and treat your slip and the center’s own notice as the final word on the day.

What the printed 9:00 to 5:00 timing actually means

A medical center’s day contains two different kinds of work. The first is the medical examination itself — registration, document checking, the physical examination, blood and urine sample collection, and the chest X-ray. The second is handing over completed reports and the counter work that goes with it. The slip prints one window for the whole working day, which is why the two get mixed up.

Reports and counter workAbout 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM

The center remains open, but the medical examination is not performed. These hours are used for handing over reports and related counter work.

So “9:00 to 5:00” is accurate for the center, and incomplete for you. If your only business that day is the medical examination, the part of the day you can actually use ends much earlier than the slip suggests.

Why the medical examination closes earlier than the gate

The medical examination is only one half of a center’s day, and it is the half that has to finish early enough for the collected samples to move into the laboratory process and for the day’s medicals to be completed and recorded. Once that part of the day is over, the staff are working on results and counter service, not on new applicants.

The practical effect is simple: the later you arrive, the more likely it is that the medical counter has already stopped taking new cases for that day — even though the doors are open and the staff are still there.

Reach in the morning, not after lunch

The safest habit is to treat the medical examination as a morning task. Reach the center around opening time, or as early as you reasonably can, and plan your day around the examination rather than around the afternoon.

  • Arrive in the morning. If the sample collection window closes early, a morning arrival keeps you on the correct side of it.
  • Do not plan other work for the same afternoon. Documents and samples take time, and a delay of an hour can push you past the cut-off.
  • Keep the next working day free if you can. If you are late or a document needs sorting, the center will ask you to come back on a working day.
  • Confirm the day’s hours first. A quick call to your center before you leave home is the single most effective thing you can do.

The slip timing is not a reserved appointment slot

The printed timing is the day’s working window, not a private hour booked for you. How a center manages its queue on the day can differ — some work strictly in the order applicants report, others follow their own counter process. Do not assume that arriving at the end of the printed window still leaves you a place in that day’s medical. If your center has a queue system you should know about, ask about it before the day of your medical.

Before you travel — a short checklist

  1. Confirm the center’s address and current timing on the day you plan to go, using the contact details for your assigned center in our Pakistan GAMCA medical center directory.
  2. Carry the right documents — your passport, the printed appointment slip and the photographs the center asks for. Our required documents guide lists them.
  3. Follow the preparation advice you were given about fasting, meals and medication. Our medical test guide explains how to prepare for the examination.
  4. Check whether your centre is open that day — public holidays, weekly closures and a break around Friday prayers can change the schedule at short notice, depending on the center and the city.
  5. Reach in the morning and keep the afternoon free.

Timings that can change on the day

Even regular applicants get caught out by this. A center that normally collects samples until early afternoon may finish earlier on a day when the queue is long, and public holidays, local closures and seasonal rush all affect hours. Because this can change without notice, a two-minute phone call to your center on the morning of your visit is worth far more than any fixed timetable written on a website — including this one.

Common confusions about Wafid / GAMCA center timings

  • “9:00 to 5:00 means the medical runs all day.” No. The medical examination is the earlier part of the day; the rest is report handover and counter work.
  • “Going later means a shorter queue.” Often the opposite — you may arrive after the medical counter has stopped taking new cases for that day.
  • “The slip gives me a fixed reporting time.” It gives the center’s working window. How your center orders the day’s applicants is a separate matter.
  • “I can collect my report at 5:00 PM the same day.” Only if your center tells you that a report is ready for handover. Do not plan around an unconfirmed pickup time.
  • “Any center will see me at any time.” Your appointment is tied to the center your slip names. Do not travel to a different center on the assumption that it will accept you.

Collecting your medical report afterwards

Once your examination is complete, the result is compiled and recorded against your passport details. Instructions on how to check the result online, and what a displayed status means, are covered in our guide to checking your Wafid medical status. If your center has told you a report is available for collection, confirm the handover hours with them — the second half of the working day is when that counter is staffed.
